The Rolling Stones said that you can’t always get what you want. And for Freddie Freeman, he most wants to continue the excellent play with which he started this season for the Atlanta Braves. Unfortunately, blurry vision and dry eyes have gotten in the way of this, leading to recent struggles and only one appearance in the Braves’ last four games.

Once again, he was unable to play during last night’s nationally broadcast game against the first place Washington Nationals. With his team down by five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, on the verge of being swept by their division rivals, the ol’ production truck must have thought it found the perfect representation of the Braves misery in Freeman, but after some brief contemplation, the left handed hitting first baseman said, “Yup” out loud and the following, internally:

I’m going to try to be best, because I’m only a man. And a man’s gotta learn to take it. So, I’ll try to believe that though the going gets rough, I gotta hang tough to make it. I know history repeats itself, so if I try I’ll succeed. I’ll never doubt that I’m the one, and I can have all my dreams!

I’m the best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep me down. I’m the best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep me dow-ow-ow-ow-own.

With thanks to Joe Esposito for writing the most inspiring rock anthem of all time, and Scott Lewis for his GIFfable magic.
