Last night’s draft is at the top of mind on the latest edition of the Getting Blanked show. Breaking down the picks (to the best of our abilities) which dovetails into a tidy discussion of the Pirates situation as sellers who could be buyers. Or the reverse, one of those things.

Then our latest feature “the Awful Thing the Manager Did” which is actually a bit of weird praise for Phillies manager Charlie Manuel and his usage of expensive closer Jonathan Papelbon. Let no good deed so unpunished, Cholly.

  1. I like it when y’all disagree on something and there’s discussion.

  2. Papelbon is a complete fucking douchbag idiot.

So even though I think “roles” in the bullpen are complete bullshit and for idiots, I think Papelbon could be so narrowly minded and be demotivated coming in, in a non-save situation.

  3. Let me know when Parked is off this show and i will return…

  4. I’m not going to do the legwork, but that argument could have easily been solved by looking at Papelbon’s numbers in non-save situations vs in save situations over his career. It is pretty rare to hear you guys argue about an issue like that when none of you have any evidence. #figureitout

    • Yeah, we certainly didn’t anticipate that segment going in that direction.

Ps his numbers are all but identical.
