The Boston Red Sox, who sent starter JoshDaniel Bard to Triple-A on Tuesday, are expected to recall Daisuke Matsuzaka for a start against the Nationals on Saturday.

Dice-K, who underwent Tommy John surgery last June, last pitched in the majors on May 16th, 2011 against the Baltimore Orioles. He has pitched in eight rehab games this year, six for Triple-A Pawtucket, compiling a 5.14 FIP, with 20 strikeouts in 28.1 innings. He is currently in the final season of his six-year, $52 million deal. He posted a 3.9 fWAR back in 2007 and 3.3 fWAR in 2008.
The Red Sox rotation this season ranks 13th in ERA at 4.55 behind only the Twins, and 13th in BAA at .265. The team has walked the fourth most batters in the American League and seventh most in baseball.
