Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton is out of the lineup against the Astros after was sent to hospital early Friday morning with what the team is calling an intestinal virus. He is expected to be released in the next 12-24 hours.

Hamilton, who is tied with the White Sox Adam Dunn for the league lead in home runs with 22, has played in 60 of the Rangers 64 games this year and posted a 3.5 fWAR and .330/.390/.674 slash line.

The Rangers were forced to make roster moves following the Hamiton news, placing reliever Koji Uehara on the 15-day disabled list with a back strain, and recalling outfielder Leonys Martin from Triple-A Round Rock.
