Peralta Gets Eight Game Suspension

According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Tampa Bay Rays reliever Joel Peralta has received an eight game suspension from Major League Baseball after having pine tar discovered on his glove during a game against the Washington Nationals earlier this week.

One can only hope that this reignites the transcendental discussion between Nationals manager Davey Johnson, who requested that umpires look at the pitchers glove, and Rays manager Joe Maddon, who took umbrage with Johnson’s request.

It would be all kinds of awesome if MLB opened its press release on the pine tar suspension by referring to it as a sticky situation.
