The New York Yankees have placed starter CC Sabathia on the 15-day disabled list with a groin strain. The team is expecting their ace to miss at least two starts and are hoping he can return to the mound after the All-Star break.

This will be Sabathia’s first stint on the DL since he strained a oblique muscle while playing for the Indians in April of 2006. He has made at least 33 starts every season since 2007. This year, the five-time All-Star has compiled a 3.45 ERA, 3.20 FIP and 3.23 xFIP.

Taking his place in the rotation will be Freddy Garcia, who has appeared in 13 games for Yankees. He made four starts for the Yankees in April posting a 12.51 ERA.

  2. Does this have anything to do with Spiderman flying out of his butt?
