Wade Miley Is Lonely

Earlier today, a ruckus was caused when Boston Red Sox first baseman David Ortiz was late for a scheduled media scrum as part of the All-Star Game festivities. On the opposite end of that spectrum, we have the lone Arizona Diamondbacks representative Wade Miley.

Via HardBall Talk’s Drew Silva, we find Miley, the D’Backs’ best pitcher so far this season, politely answering questions from someone whom we can only assume based on generalizations, stereotypes and appearances, writes for a publication with a circulation of two: himself and his mother (upstairs). Making this all together sadder is that in the same frame of the photograph, we see a relative bustling of activity around Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Joel Hanrahan’s booth. Let’s just ponder that for a moment.

  1. I assume this person is asking Wade what it’s like to play with Aaron Hill on the team.

  2. I bet writing the second paragraph made Parkes feel like a real big shot.

  3. Are we sure it’s not Parkes checking out the husky Wade Miley

  4. who the fuck is wade miley

  5. The guy writes for the AZ Republic. A bit more than 2 subscribers.

  6. “The D’Backs’ best pitcher”… that anything like World’s Tallest Midget?

  7. We laugh because he’s posted near-identical numbers as Morrow at 1/10th the cost.

    • And by near-identical, I mean…

      WM: 3.04, 9-5, 70k, 1.09 WHIP ($410k)
      BM: 3.01, 7-4, 67k, 1.00 WHIP ($4m)
