The Kansas City Royals have signed Jason Kendall. No, this isn’t one of those fake-you-out tweets that use the ever popular #TweetsFrom2009 hashtag. Free agent catcher, the free agent that time forgot, Jason Kendall has signed a Minor League contract with the Kansas City Royals.
Kendall will report to the Double-A Arkansas Naturals and will begin play as soon as tomorrow. He last played at the Major League leve with the Royals in 2010 season and had a slash line of .256/.318/.297 in 118 games, good for a .278 wOBA and a 68 wRC+. The above picture does a fairly accurate job at representing the thirty-eight year old’s defensive abilities at the best of times.
Royals Review informs us that Kendall last played in the Minor Leagues in 1995, and strangely enough, he has never played at the Triple A level.
