With just under a week until baseball’s non-waiver trade deadline, general managers for all 30 clubs are keeping their cell phone companies happy in hopes of making a deal to help their club for now or the future. From now until the July 31st deadline, we here at Getting Blanked will have you covered each day with the latest rumours from around the league.
Yesterday, the Miami Marlins wanted a “Teixeira like” package for starter Josh Johnson, today, Jerry Crasnick tweets the price is extremely high for the right-hander, in fact, so high, they want two or three top prospects in any deal. The prospects being mentioned include shortstop Jurickson Profar of the Rangers, catcher Travis d’Arnaud of the Blue Jays, and pitcher Dylan Bundy of the Orioles.
It’s starting to look like Johnson will be a member of the Marlins for the rest of 2012 if the starting point in any deal begins with players of this nature.
