DETROIT, Mich. – A gunman opened fire on Cody Eppley Wednesday night during a baseball game between the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers. The incident took place in the sixth inning, with Eppley narrowly escaping serious injury after being struck in the head with a baseball. Several eyewitness reports claim the throw came from one of Eppley’s own teammates.

Getting Blanked investigates.

Judging by the angle in the GIF above, the throw appears to come from third base (reverse angle). We rounded up the usual suspects for questioning. Alex Rodriguez: injured, did not play third base last night. Eduardo Nunez: current whereabouts unknown, but did not play in Detroit last night. Jayson Nix: not in last night’s lineup, and past experience implies he would not throw a ball at someone’s head.

That leads us to Eric Chavez. Where was Eric Chavez when Eppley was hit with the baseball? I think we found our shooter.

Eppley was spotted laughing following the incident, and told reporters “I didn’t even feel it”. We beg to differ.
