According to a Major League Baseball press release, second baseman Ryan Brett, right-handed pitcher Charles Cononie and left-handed pitcher Justin Woodall, currently playing for the Tampa Bay Rays Single-A affiliate Bowling Green Hot Rods, have each been suspended for 50 games following positive tests for methamphetamine and an amphetamine.

Brett was a third round pick from 2009 who ranked as the team’s 14th best prospect by Baseball America earlier this year, but hasn’t really done much this season. The other two are little more than organizational players who could see their professional baseball careers halted because of this.
