The Los Angeles Dodgers are proving that money can’t always buy you a division title, let alone a World Series championship. Since making the blockbuster deal with the Boston Red Sox for Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto, the Dodgers have gone 5-7 and now sit 4.5 games behind the San Francisco Giants in the National League West.
Wouldn’t you know it? Those two teams play each other this weekend.

Other series to watch this weekend:
The Yankees continue their four game set against the Orioles, with the two teams now tied in the standings atop the American League East. Orioles slugger Mark Reynolds will look to continue his dominance over the Yankees, hitting six home runs against the Bronx Bombers already this season with a .333/440/.881 slash line. To put the numbers into perspective, his season line is only .237/.334/.481 with 20 home runs. Of note, the last player to hit seven home runs in one season against the Yankees was Vernon Wells of the Blue Jays in 2010.
Two potential Wild Card hopefuls will also do battle this weekend, as the Detroit Tigers head to L.A. to face the Angels, while the Tampa Bay Rays are at home for three against the Texas Rangers.
