Bruce Bochy’s 1-2 batting order combination of Angel Pagan and Marco Scutaro worked out so well for the Giants that Brian Sabean couldn’t resist bringing both back for the foreseeable future. The Giants came to terms with Scutaro on a reasonable three-year, $20 million deal, as first reported by Ken Rosenthal.

Opting to keep the 2012 World Series champion Giants squad intact, Sabean has committed $60 million over the last two days to the top of the order. Pagan agreed to a four-year, $40 million deal on Monday. Scutaro, who turned 37 in October, was acquired by the Giants in a July trade with the Colorado Rockies. Scutaro became the everyday second baseman and raked at the plate with a 362/.385/.473 batting line in 268 plate appearances with the Giants.
