Chicago Cubs fans can rest easy (for now), as injury concerns over Matt Garza’s side have been minimized following the results of an MRI. Garza will rest for a week with a mild left lat strain, Paul Sullivan reports.
Cubs GM, Jed Hoyer, on Garza’s status:
“We’re probably going to let him rest for about a week, make sure he’s pain-free, at which point he can ramp back up his throwing,” Hoyer said.”I think it’s safe to say it pushes back his first Cactus League start. But what it means for the regular season, it’s clearly much too early to say. But we felt like it was really good news it’s just a mild strain…. Matt is in good spirits. He felt much better (Monday).”
