Jeter, who hit .316/.362/.429 in 159 games last season, battled an ankle injury in the second half of the 2012 season, but underwent surgery after suffering a fractured ankle in Game 1 of the ALCS against the Detroit Tigers.
After a busy off-season of rehab, doctors finally advised him on Friday to “move forward”.
