The Los Angeles Dodgers effectively spelled out “doom” with a trifecta of tweets this morning on the status of Zack Greinke. Greinke, of course, signed a contract worth $147 million over six years in December.
Zack Greinke has been scratched from today’s game. Greinke will travel to Los Angeles this morning to be examined by Dr. ElAttrache.

Greinke reports that he does not feel 100% comfortable with his elbow, so out of abundance of caution he will undergo a precautionary exam.

He is expected to return to Camelback Ranch by Monday afternoon.Zack’s next start will be delayed pending the results of his examination.

The Dodgers currently boast a plethora of starters, including Clayton Kershaw, Chad Billingsley, Josh Beckett, Chris Capuano, Aaron Harang, Ted Lilly, and Hyun-Jin Ryu. An injury to Greinke would be a heavy blow to the club, but they would at least have a few arms to rely on in the event there’s anything seriously wrong with the elbow.
Anyway, we’re not in the business of drumming up fear when it’s unnecessary. We’ll have more on Greinke’s status as news becomes available.

The Dodgers organization, yall!
