The injury news on Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez is out, and it’s not what Los Angeles Dodgers fans were hoping for to say the least. The would-be starting shortstop for the very expensive Dodgers team will miss eight weeks after tearing a ligament in his thumb. MRIs revealed the tear and Hanley is scheduled for surgery tomorrow.

Ramirez injured his thumb while playing for the Dominican Republic in the Championship Game in the World Baseball Classic, will now give way to Luis Cruz or Dee Gordon at short until he returns in late June. Last season, Ramirez hit .271/.324/.450 in 64 games for the Dodgers after being acquired from the Marlins along with reliever Randy Choate for pitchers Nate Eovaldi and Scott McGough.
The below gif might well be play that did Hanley in. Seems innocent enough but here we are!
