Kansas City Royals v Texas Rangers

The Texas Rangers have placed Opening Day starter Matt Harrison on the 15-day disabled list due to soreness in his lower back. The move will be retroactive to April 6th.

Harrison has started two games this season, with both resulting in poor outings. Against the Astros, the left-hander allowed five earned runs in 5 2/3 innings with nine strikeouts. In his next start vs. the Angels, the former third round pick allowed a pair of two-run home runs and five earned runs in five innings. Last year, Harrison posted a 3.29 ERA, 4.03 FIP, 4.13xFIP and 3.7 fWAR.

Taking his place in the rotation is right-hander Justin Grimm , the Rangers ninth best prospect according to Fangraphs. In his only start for Triple-A Round Rock, he tossed five innings, allowing one run while striking out four.
