Toronto Blue Jays v Detroit Tigers

UPDATE: General manager Alex Anthopoulos addressed the media and revelaed Reyes will likely be out until the All-Star Break.

*** The slide that may cost Jose Reyes a good portion of the season officially landed him on the 15-day disabled list today, as the team recalled infielder Munenori Kawasaki from Triple-A Buffalo. Kawasaki appeared in 61 games for the Mariners last season, recording a .192/.257/.202 line with two stolen bases. Maicer Izturis will also see time at short, although Anthopoulos has already started making calls to other GM’s, according to MLBTR.

Reyes has been getting an incredible amount of support on twitter from many former players and fans, and responded earlier today.

The news we are all waiting for, the dreaded MRI, is expected sometime soon, although Ken Rosenthal tweets that a second MRI may be needed due to the swelling. As the day goes on, I’ll update the status, and let’s hope for the best. Here’s hoping this tweet by Jorge Castillo of the The Star-Ledger is not a sign of things to come.

  1. I was hoping this was just a horrible drunken nightmare.

  2. Better to have Lo Viste’d and lost than to have never Lo Viste’d at all.

    Fuck, I’m sad.

  3. I predict there is going to be a big trade. I can picture Jose Bautista involved and in return we will get a Bourn like and defensive SS wiz in return

  4. How could someone be so stupid to say trade bautista yes lets trade the best home run hitter in baseball and the guy the team is essentially built around, I would stop watching baseball if they trade jose

  5. Fuck I love watching Reyes play. Gonna be a long three months.

  6. Please tell me you were thing of Miguel Batista and fucked up.
