The Yankees captain left the team’s minor league complex this week to see Dr. Robert Anderson, the same doctor that performed the surgery on his ankle last October.
Jeter tried to comeback from the surgery this spring, but was shut down on March 23rd, after feeling soreness in his ankle after getting four at-bats during a minor league spring training game.
The Yankees will continue to use Eduardo Nunez and Jayson Nix at shortstop, barring any additional moves general manager Brian Cashman may make to upgrade at the position until Jeter returns. Yankee shortstops have combined to hit .233/.280/.326 in 43 at-bats this season.
