Toronto Blue Jays v New York Yankees

The New York Yankees made a series of moves today after losing two players to injury in last night’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

New York placed catcher Francisco Cervelli on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right hand, while multiple reports say the team also placed pitcher Ivan Nova on the DL with an elbow injury.

Taking their spots on the roster will be catcher Austin Romine and left handed pitcher Vidal Nuno.

Romine, who will likely back up Chris Stewart, has played in 14 games in Triple-A, posting a .333/.391/.405 line with one home run.

Nuno, who will be in the bullpen for Saturday’s game against the Jays, has pitched in four games for Scranton-Wilkes-Barre posting a 1.54 ERA and 2.34 FIP. David Phelps, who entered the game last night after Nova was injured, will likely join the rotation that consists of CC Sabathia, Andy Pettitte, Phil Hughes and Hiroki Kuroda.
