If you are reading this right now, you aren’t in the bar with us. Which is a shame, because bars are great places to be. Especially if you’re going to talk about baseball and drink delicious beer. The baseball part is great but, let’s be honest, beer.
Click the link below to join the stream live at 2:30pm. Send your questions towards @GettingBlanked on twitter and maybe we can fit them into the pre-game show!
Spin the whell of baloney, friends. It’s the Winter Meetings where everything goes, so long as your definition of “everything” is “back-scratching and ball-washing from devious men in positions of relative little power.” Or just take every word to describe Doctor Zhivago and apply it to baseball. The connection is strong!
There is no limit to the amount of hot air generated this week in Dallas, where people are “hearing this” and sources are “confirming that” right up until the minute when the opposite happens. Names are made, except very few people actually remember – or care – who broke the news in the first place.
But that doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun, does it? There will be fun, and a Getting Blanked livestream at 3:30pm!
Well, we don’t know yet. But we will know at exactly 2pm sharp, when the good people at the BBWAA announce the results. There are as many as five worthy guys who will get votes, with the clear-cut favorite being…nobody.
Jacoby Ellsbury could get it and it would be okay. Jose Bautista could (should) get it and very few people with brains and ears would be dismayed. Curtis Granderson and Miguel Cabrera could win in because famous! Justin Verlander might win it because it is very rare to see a pitcher turn in a season inferior in every way to the year he produced just two years prior but this time he got the winz so MVP!
Which is to say this year’s vote is most contentious. Why not join us at 1:55 so we might all react together, live and in person, via the magic of the internet.
Rain postponed Game Six so that we can talk about what might happen tonight and, if we’re lucky, what a Friday night Gave Seven means. It means excitement, that’s what it [GETTING BLANKED]ing means! Excitement like Ron Washington without a hat on, that kind of excitement.
The World Series is well under way. It seems, after four games, to be a reasonably even and entertaining affair. On Saturday night, the best hitter of his generation, maybe the best right-handed hitter of all time, performed at a level very rarely seen in the Fall Classic.
But whatever. Something something Red Sox something something John Farrell.
What better way is there to pass the time on a Thursday afternoon than a nice little live stream talking about baseball? That’s a trick question, because there isn’t a better way.
Join us this afternoon at 3:30 PM ET to talk about the following: 1) things that are faster than Miguel Cabrera, 2) things more powerful than Nelson Cruz and 3) things smarter than Tony LaRussa. Hopefully, our stimulating conversation will set you in good stead so as to fully enjoy this evening’s double dose of baseball.
