According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Baltimore Orioles are on the verge of signing veteran left-handed pitcher Randy Wolf.

Wolf will join fellow southpaw Joe Saunders as the most recent acquisition for the Orioles, after the former member of the Arizona Diamondbacks was dealt a couple of days ago to Baltimore for releiver Matt Lindstrom and cash. This season, Wolf has posted a 5.69 ERA, 4.74 FIP and 4.46 xFIP in 24 starts for the Milwaukee Brewers. He was released by the Brewers earlier in the year, his final under a $29.75 million contract that he signed back in 2009.

Somehow the Orioles are still in the Wild Card mix in the American League, I’m just not sure if adding Saunders and Wolf will help them make it to the one-game playoff.

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Randy Wolf has thrown his curve ball for 19% of his pitches this season, but few, if any have looked like the one he tossed to the Cincinnati Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips. According the the scoreboard, this one was clocked at 49 miles per hour.
