Nick Diaz, who competed in the main event of last Saturday’s UFC 143 pay-per-view has tested positive for “marijuana metabolites” according to the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer sent out a release this evening stating that Diaz had failed his drug test and that “a complaint for disciplinary action had been filed.”

The MMA Show was the first to report earlier today that one of the fighters tested on the UFC 143 event had failed their test. In total, 18 of the 22 fighters who competed were tested. No other fighters tested had any issues with the NSAC.

This is the second positive test for Diaz. Back in 2007, Diaz tested positive for marijuana following his submission win over Takanori Gomi at PRIDE 33. That event also took place in Nevada, the same state that held UFC 143.

The positive test is just another bump in what has been a roller coaster week. After Carlos Condit defeated Diaz for the interim welterweight title, Diaz announced his retirement in his post fight speech. Despite the apparent retirement of Diaz, many were calling for a rematch between Diaz and Condit. Fans thought they had their wish when UFC President Dana White tweeted that Condit had accepted a second fight with Diaz.

The plot thickened when The MMA Show contacted Diaz’s trainer Cesar Gracie who bluntly said that there was not going to be a rematch.
