Today’s “The MMA Show with Mauro Ranallo” podcast featured an interview with Derek Brunson, the Strikeforce middleweight who was set to take on Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza at Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey next weekend until he was not cleared by the Ohio State Athletic Commission due to him wearing contact lenses.
“I went to get my eye exam done yesterday and they told me Ohio rejected my eye exam because my eyes weren’t up to standard in case my contacts got knocked out. I’ve fought 11 times before — nine times pro, two times amateur — and it’s never been an issue before so I’m just kind of bummed about it. I was really looking forward to fighting (Jacare).”
