Let’s be honest. Newspapers are so 2001, and the blogosphere is just too big to sift through every day for your football fix. We have you covered with the latest stories, topics, and opinion from the World Wide Web here at the Goal-Line Stand with our Lunch Links.

+ Big news! On the same day that the first NFL training camp opens up, a first-round pick has finally been signed. And it’s quite literally the 32nd player most of us would have guessed would sign first — Dallas drama queen-in-waiting Dez Bryant, who is getting $8.5 million guaranteed as part of a five-year deal. Only 31 to go.

+ There’s a lot of hype surrounding the talented Bryant, obviously, but he’ll have enough trouble cracking the starting lineup in Dallas — especially if Miles Austin continues to climb the NFL stardom ladder. ESPN.com’s Matt Mosley wonders if Austin has become the best wide receiver in the NFL. (Good thing The Score selected him as its fantasy bust of 2010.)

+ Colt McCoy wasn’t a first-round pick but was still one of the more prominent players selected on draft day, mainly because he’s a quarterback from a big school. So it’s worth noting that McCoy has come to terms with the Browns in time for the start of camp. Now Cleveland can shift its focus to first-round corner Joe Haden, who is expected to be a tough sign.

+ Speaking of signings, here’s one that really matters: Denver has wrapped up its top pass rusher, signing Elvis Dumervil to a six-year, $61.5 million extension. This is a tad surprising considering that Josh McDaniels has tossed aside pretty much anyone from the Mike Shanahan era. Regardless, this appears to be money well spent, and the guys at Predominantly Orange agree.

+ Phin Phanatic provides interesting offseason filler with its South Florida Sports Power Rankings. Not sure what it says about the state of the Dolphins that a guy who hasn’t played in a decade is the team’s top representative on the list, but maybe Brandon Marshall can change that.

+ According to the agent for Flozell Adams, four teams have standing offers on the table for Adams. And I’ve never known an agent to lie.

+ I’m doing everything I can not to go on an angry rant about this, but the “Braley Bowl” goes down tonight in Toronto. The B.C. Lions and the Toronto Argonauts, both owned by the same man, go head-to-head in what should be renamed the “Ridiculously-shady-hard-to-believe-amateur-hour-conflict-of-interest Bowl.” I mean, seriously, the fact that David Braley owns 25 percent of the CFL’s teams is much, much more hilarious than the fact the league once had two teams with the same nickname.

+ What a stupid league.

Edit: Just had a conversation with Micallef. Safe to say I’m not on his good side right now.

And we digress

The guys at Arrowhead Addicts never let me down. This girl dominates a revised version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”…

I personally prefer it to Judy Garland’s…
