A few notes from North Texas

Super Bowl XLV kicks off in just over 24 hours. We’ve covered the X’s and O’s, the atmosphere and anything else we could think of. There really isn’t much else to do. Here’s the situation:

GLS has picked the Steelers to win by a field goal, despite the fact Pittsburgh will officially be without defensive end Aaron Smith and center Maurkice Pouncey.

The 2011 Pro Football Hall of Fame class will be announced tonight at 7:00 ET. Here’s who’s nominated (I’ve bolded who I think should get in):

Jerome Bettis
Tim Brown
Cris Carter — I don’t care what the stats say, he might be the smoothest receiver I’ve ever seen.
Dermontti Dawson
Richard Dent — I continue to back Dent but I think it’s a losing battle.
Chris Doleman
Marshall Faulk — Considered a lock in his first year.
Charles Haley
*Chris Hanburger
Cortez Kennedy
Curtis Martin
Andre Reed
*Les Richter
Willie Roaf
Ed Sabol – Apparently he’s falling out of favour because he didn’t play, and that’s a shame.
Deion Sanders — Same as Faulk.
Shannon Sharpe

The weather has improved. A week of disastrous conditions in North Texas is over and it’s sunny. The ice is melting. Last night we headed to one of the main entertainment hubs in downtown Dallas, and it was extremely quiet. Hopefully for the sake of the city, tonight will be better.
