Another NFL player with nothing better to do during the lockout has decided to (allegedly) break the law.
Chiefs linebacker Mike Vrabel has been arrested for felony theft at an Indiana casino, according to ProFootballTalk.com.
We knew the work stoppage was hurting players’ wallets, but if it’s taken less than a month for some to turn to Ocean’s Eleven-style robbery, that’s a sure sign that the players are struggling to get by.
Unless of course the entire thing was a misunderstanding, as Vrabel obviously claims it was. Just another “misunderstanding” resulting in criminal charges. If I had a dime for every time that happened to me….
What makes the whole thing that much more unique and — let’s face it — comical is that Vrabel is a member of the NFLPA’s executive committee. In about 36 hours, he and his peers are taking their bosses to court. Now, Vrabel might have more than one court case to worry about.
Listen, I despise this work stoppage. But if players continue to find unique ways to get busted by the cops, I’m not going to complain.
P.S. Vrabel is the ninth NFL player arrested since the work stoppage began three and a half weeks ago.
