This is one of those posts that doesn’t require elaboration. In fact, that scrumptious headline is funny enough that there’s no way I can possibly make this story better. The fact is, a “life coach” has fired NFL mega-bust and purple drank connoisseur JaMarcus Russell.
Details from Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, who cites two sources close to the former No. 1 overall draft pick:
Russell, 25, and (life coach John) Lucas had been working together since September in hopes of getting Russell into shape for a return to the NFL. The aforementioned sources say Russell, released by the Oakland Raiders last May, initially worked hard, but quickly lost motivation. Recently Lucas tired of trying to get Russell, the top pick in 2007, to respond to instruction and assistance.
Amazing. How is it that the Raiders couldn’t have seen at least some of this coming?
“The title of your article should be, ‘It’s Over,’” a source told Cole. “It’s just amazing that you could say that about somebody who is 25 years old and just got drafted four years ago. But it’s been almost a year since he got cut and there’s no interest. Even before the lockout, nobody wanted to get near the kid.”
It’s hard to fathom that despite being a train wreck, the dude still made over $40 million from the Raiders.
