Earlier we looked at a potential Rams trade that would land St. Louis a top-10 pick in order to beat the Redskins to Julio Jones. But don’t discount the possibility that the Redskins themselves might end up trading for a higher pick.
If they do, though, they’ll likely be doing it in order to land one of the draft’s top two quarterbacks, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.
“I don’t know what they have to offer, but I hear the Redskins are trying like crazy to trade up to get one of the quarterbacks, Blaine Gabbert, I imagine. Some mocks have them taking quarterback Jake Locker if they stay at 10. What a reach that would be, but Mike Shanahan loves mobile quarterbacks who can throw on the run.”
Frankly, this is a draft in which it’s likely easy to move up. Rumor has it quite a few teams in the top 10 are looking to move down, especially if a new rookie wage scale doesn’t completely change the astronomical dollars being handed to early draft picks.
Of course, at this point, everything we hear is a potential smokescreen. So why are we relaying it in this blog?
What the hell else is there to talk about?
