• Late last night the Chiefs locked up outside linebacker Tamba Hali to a five-year contract extension worth $60 million, $35 million of which is guaranteed. That’s more guaranteed cash than what was included in the contract Nnamdi Asomugha received from the Eagles. Hali had a breakout season in 2010, leading the AFC with 14.5 sacks.

  • That also means the Eagles can start fining DeSean Jackson $30,000 for each day that he stays away from training camp, because according to Adam Schefter the increase in training camp fines doesn’t kick in until the new league year starts.
  • We’re still only in the early days of August, but it looks like Shawne Merriman could be rising from his football coffin in Buffalo.
  • Anyone who bet on Wednesday to be the day that the Eagles finally went 24 hours without signing someone lost money. The latest player to join the Dream Team is defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove.
  • There was a scary scene at the Eagles training camp yesterday when defensive tackle Mike Patterson had a seizure on the field. Rookie guard Danny Watkins used his medical experience as a firefighter to assist the paramedics, and ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio is now reporting that Patterson has a “Brain AVM,” a tangle of blood vessels in the skull that will require surgery or radiation.
  • Surely the Dolphins were just playing a really funny joke on their fans by working out Tiki Barber, right?
  • When the Cowboys failed in their pursuit of Asomugha, they were forced to keep Terrence Newman around. Now Newman will miss the entire preseason after he pulled his groin in practice.
  • Packers players riding local kids’ bikes between Lambeau Field and Ray Nitschke Field is a really cool Green Bay tradition. It also gives TotalPackers.com a chance to make some witty observations.
  • If Tim Tebow put a giant John Elway tattoo on his leg, would he be guaranteed the starting spot in Denver?
