Today, I have an excuse to post this picture.
- It’s been a particularly tough preseason for Bengals fans, who’ve had to deal with watching Andy Dalton‘s growing pains on live television. But maybe they’ll be somewhat relieved to know that Carson Palmer has yet to file his retirement papers. I’m not sure if that means anything, but I think it’s worth noting.
- Only hours after word emerged that Fred Jackson had grown frustrated with his spot behind C.J. Spiller on the Buffalo depth chart, Jackson was apparently assured that he’s got the No. 1 running back job in Orchard Park. He deserves it. The only reason Spiller would be ahead of Jackson is if the team is trying to avoid being embarrassed about taking him with the eighth pick last year. Jerry Sullivan of the Buffalo News seems to agree with me.
- Terrelle Pryor will not appeal his five-game suspension, which is a good decision considering how little impact he’d make that early in the season anyway.
- San Diego’s Stephen Cooper will try to play this season with a torn biceps, which simply sounds ridiculous.
- More Colt McCoy hype! In fact, all of Cleveland is excited about the Browns. Don’t you just love August?
- The Cowboys are Jennifer Aniston. Read for elaboration. Or don’t.
- In case you missed our Jaguars season preview last night, we predicted that Blaine Gabbert will get a chance to start in Jacksonville this season. Yes, we just linked to ourselves.
- 18-to-88 wonders if the Colts are becoming the late-90s Dolphins. That wouldn’t be a good thing.
- Danica Patrick: Modern day Chicago Bears superfan?
- It shouldn’t surprise anyone — aside from maybe Mike Martz — that Johnny Knox has outplayed Roy Williams thus far. And now we’re all starting to be a little more realistic about Williams.
- Peyton Hillis has been hit by the injury bug but he’s battling through it.
- With Joe Thomas signed to a long-term deal with mega dollars in Cleveland, Jake Long is next.
- Johnathan Joseph is practicing again for the Texans and is expected to make his preseason debut this weekend.
