Week 3 composite player rankings

It’s week three of the NFL season, and I’ve spent hours (my eyeballs hurt) combining the fantasy rankings of experts Michael Fabiano/Adam Rank of NFL.com and Dave Richard/Jamey Eisenberg of CBSSports.com into five easy-to-read charts.

Why did I do this?

Is it because I love you? Is it an assigned job? Am I secretly feeding you false information on the off-chance that we’re playing each other in fantasy football this week?

I’m not going to dignify any of those questions with a response. There’s no need to question my motivation, just enjoy this weeks’ rankings.

Quarterbacks

Player Fabiano Richard Eisenberg Rank Average
1. Drew Brees (vs. KC) 1 1 1 3 1.5
2. Cam Newton (vs. NYG) 4 2 4 2 3
3. Aaron Rodgers (@SEA) 3 6 3 1 3.25
4. Robert Griffin III (vs. CIN) 2 5 5 4 4
5. Matthew Stafford (@TEN) 6 4 6 5 5.25
6. Matt Ryan (@SD) 7 8 2 9 6.5
7. Eli Manning (@CAR) 10 3 7 10 7.5
8. Tony Romo (vs. TB) 8 9 8 7 8
9. Michael Vick (@ARI) 9 7 9 8 8.25
10. Tom Brady (@BAL) 5 15 13 6 9.75
11. Philip Rivers (vs. ATL) 12 10 10 11 10.75
12. Ben Roethlisberger (@OAK) 15 11 12 15 13.25
13. Alex Smith (@MIN) 13 16 14 13 14
14. Peyton Manning (vs. HOU) 14 17 15 12 14.5
15. Joe Flacco (vs. NE) 17 13 11 18 14.75

Tom Brady took the biggest tumble this week, falling out of the top five for the first time this season. This is no surprise considering the Pats’ putrid game against the Cardinals last Sunday, and their upcoming match-up with a very stingy Ravens defense.

Wipe away those tears Patriots fans, if Brady can hang a boat load of points on Baltimore this week, he’ll rocket right back up near the top of the list (that’s a pretty big “if”, Lisa).

Buffalo’s C.J. Spiller has taken the league by storm, wrestling the number one ranking away from Arian Foster for the first time all season.

Averaging more than ten yards-per-carry, Spiller leads the NFL in rushing (292 yards) and is tied with Foster for the lead in rushing touchdowns (three).

Greg Jennings resumed practicing yesterday and is expected to be in the line-up for Green Bay’s game against Seattle on Monday. If Jennings and QB Aaron Rodgers can find a groove, he might just be able to put the team on his back (he’ll also climb back up the rankings).

The third year pro is averaging more than ten yards-per-catch, and with 13 receptions, is poised to shatter his career high of 40 (his career total was 41 coming into this season).

As always folks, come back next week for a fresh set of rankings.
