Norv Turner’s reign of terror in San Diego is expected to end in a couple weeks. If you’re relying on anybody on this team — I’ll never forgive you, Danario — to propel you to fantasy silverware then I don’t know what say. It’s not going to end well.
Or maybe it will. The Chargers will face the Jets and Raiders in their last two games, two teams also waiting for the clock to run out on a miserable season. Chris Johnson gashed the Jets for 122 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries. Overall the Jets run defence ranks 28th in the league.
Ryan Mathews will not be able to take advantage of Rex Ryan’s touring circus of incompetence. Jackie Battle, however, will.
“Well, we’ve got a chance to get Ronnie Brown back” he said. “Jackie (Battle) will get a chance to play. And Brink (Curtis Brinkley) played some yesterday, though I don’t know that he would play on third down. And we’ll probably add Edwin Baker to the 53-man roster. I don’t know that he would be active, but we’d have to see where Ronnie Brown is.”
Get excited San Diego! Brown’s status for week 16 remains murky, leaving the door open for Battle’s return to number one back status. Twice this season he’s had more than 10 carries — weeks two and four). And though he didn’t amass a ton of yards, his prowess in short yardage situations made him a worthy fantasy play — 18 and 19 points respectively in those weeks. Battle is owned in just 13.2% of ESPN leagues.
Desperation is a terrible thing. In the face of adversity — yea, I hope nobody takes fantasy football this seriously — you could do worse. Battle or bust in week 16.
