Right tackle Eric Winston confirmed via twitter that he has been released by the Kansas City Chiefs after Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk initially reported the Chiefs’ decision earlier on Wednesday.
Winston, who signed on with with the Chiefs after being cut by the Texans last season, was set to make $4.9 million in base salary this year. The 29-year-old played in all 16 games for Kansas City this season after spending his first six NFL seasons with Houston.
With Winston’s release, the Chiefs appear set to draft offensive tackle Luke Joeckel of Texas A&M No. 1 overall.
