Jacksonville Jaguars v Buffalo Bills

It was rumored weeks ago when David Garrard held private workouts with the team, but the veteran quarterback made it official on Monday, taking to twitter to break the news.

When the 2013 seasons kick off, Garrard will be three seasons removed from his last snap in the NFL. The 35-year-old was released by the Jaguars before the 2011 season to make room for Blaine Gabbert’s development and after signing with the Dolphins last March, was eventually released by Miami as well after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery.

The last time we saw Garrard on the field, he was passing for 2734 yards, 23 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in 2010 while posting a quarterback rating of 90.8.

Perhaps the most troubling thing about this signing for Jets fans is that a 35-year-old who hasn’t played in three years may now be the best quarterback on the team.
