St Louis Rams v Arizona Cardinals

Beanie Wells has been told that he’ll be released by the Cardinals, the running back tweeted on Monday afternoon.

Wells missed time in 2012 with a toe injury and played in just eight games, rushing for 234 yards and five touchdowns for Arizona after enjoying a career year (1047 yards and 10 touchdowns) in 2011. The 24-year-old has averaged 4.0 yards per carry in his four-year NFL career, but averaged just 2.7 per carry in 2012.

Wells was slated to earn just over $700,000 next season.
