The Dolphins are signing all the players. Oh also, how’s that hind region, Ravens?

Terms aren’t available yet, but according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, Ellerbe is headed to Miami. Notice how I didn’t say anything about taking talents to a beach there? Yeah, DIE DIE DIE.

It was assumed that when the Ravens traded Anquan Boldin to free up cap space, they’d make a much more aggressive run at retaining Ellerbe. They surely did, and they whiffed, and combined with Ray Lewis’ departure there’s now a massive hole up the middle of their front seven. But hey, Ed Reed will definitely be a Raven for life, right? RIGHT?

The Dolphins entered free agency with about $36 million in salary cap space after re-signing Matt Moore and Brian Hartline, and they’ve now started the spending of that mountain of Benjamins by giving Ryan Tannehill the gift of Mike Wallace, reinforcing an already strong run defense with Ellerbe, and also retaining safety Chris Clemons.

Offseason champs = Super Bowl champs. Always.

UPDATE: The Ravens were simply out bid, and as a result the defending champs have now been gutted. Jason La Canfora reports that Ellerbe agreed to a five-year deal worth $35 million. Get used to the idea Manti Te’o as your starting middle linebacker, Ravens fans.
