BREAKING: large, mobile dudes who are good at blocking other large dudes will get paid when they’re available on the NFL’s open market. Two guards have been signed so far, with Andy Levitre and Louis Vasquez vacating the free agent pool, and Gosder Cherilus has become the second tackle off the board, joining Phil Loadholt.
The Colts signed Cherilus to a five-year deal, according to NFL Network’s Albert Breer. The move provides Andrew Luck with some much needed pocket security after he was sacked 41 times during his rookie season. The underrated Cherilus was graded as the third best available tackle by Pro Football Focus earlier this offseason, behind only Andre Smith and Ryan Clady, who was franchised by the Broncos.
The Colts also signed cornerback Greg Toler for a reported $15 million over three years.
