The Giants could lose WR Victor Cruz if they aren’t willing to increase his salary, according to a report from the New York Daily News. Cruz was given a first round tender on Monday worth $2.879 million which is more than double his current deal.
Ralph Vacchiano’s sources indicate Cruz’s decision to hire Tom Condon hasn’t changed his motivation for reworking his contract.
The problem, according to several NFL sources, is that Cruz and his old agents wanted him to be paid like a No. 1 NFL receiver, and the going rate for that is a contract in the range of $11 million per year.
Cruz has caught 168 passes for 2,628 yards and 19 touchdowns over the past two seasons.
