The Tampa Bay Buccaneers appear close to a deal with 49ers free agent safety Dashon Goldson, according to the Tampa Bay Times’ Stephen F. Holder.
Holder reports Goldson will likely sign a deal close to the one received by Chargers safety Eric Widdle, who averages around $8 million per year.
If Tampa Bay could add Goldson and deal for Jets CB Darrelle Revis, it would be a major coup for GM Mark Dominik, who would probably like to make the news for positive reasons after yesterday’s embarrassing debacle with Buddy Nix.
The Buccaneers secondary needs a lot of help. They ranked last in the league in defending the pass, allowing 297.4 yards per game through the air in 2012.
