The Jets needed to fill a vacant spot in their backfield after the departure of leading rusher Shonn Greene, who signed with the Tennessee Titans on Wednesday.
ESPN is reporting that the Jets may see Goodson as a possible number one running back because of his big play potential (he averaged 6.3 yards per carry), and his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield (he had 40 catches for 310 yards in 2010).
In 2012, Goodson had 221 yards on 35 carries while playing a limited role behind Darren McFadden.
