The Bucs will retain CB Eric Wright after both parties agreed to restructure his deal to a one-year contract. Wright will earn $1.5 million.
Earlier today, NFL.com’s Adam Schein speculated a Revis deal was more important to Tampa Bay than the Jets. That may no longer be the case after the Bucs were able to rework Wright’s deal. Tampa signed Wright to a five-year, $37.5 million contract last spring.
The re-signing of Wright doesn’t mean a Revis trade will not be completed, but it could be an indication that both sides remain far apart on a trade for the all-pro defensive back.
As for a Darrelle Revis trade, this does not in any way prevent it or make it less likely based on what I’ve heard and observed.
