The Steelers are reportedly split on whether to match the $2.5 million offer sheet the Patriots gave wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, but Adam Schefter reports that Ben Roethlisberger is at least one guy in Pittsburgh who wants Sanders to stick around.
Citing sources, Schefter writes that Big Ben is lobbying Mike Tomlin to match New England’s offer, which the Steelers have until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday night to do.
The 26-year-old Sanders caught 44 passes in 2012 for 626 yards and one touchdown. He also returned nine punts for a total of 93 yards last season. The 2010 third round pick has totaled 1,290 receiving yards and five touchdowns in three seasons in Pittsburgh.
