Like anyone who breathes and has a soul, Danny Amendola was crushed by the events in Boston yesterday, his new place of work. So he decided to tie his donations to Boston charity X to his play in the upcoming season. While certainly noble, such a move is common, and has been done since that kid asked Babe Ruth to hit nine home runs or whatever.
But since Amendola is both original and awesome, he’ll donate money even if he’s the absolute worst on any given afternoon…
I will DONATE $100 for EVERY pass I catch next season to whatever “Boston Marathon Relief Fund” there is. And $200 for any dropped pass.

For the record, even though he appeared in only 11 games this past season, Amendola’s catches in 2012 would have added up to $6,300. His drops? Just one, and just $200.
