Opening Faceoff

Welcome to Hockey or Die!, The Score’s newest hockey blog. By way of introduction, my name is Jonathan Willis. For the past year and a half I’ve been a writer on a number of different hockey sites – primarily Oilers Nation and The Copper & Blue, but my work has popped up elsewhere from time to time.

Despite the names of those last two sites, this site will not focus on the Edmonton Oilers. Instead, we’re going to follow the hockey world as a whole, but we’re especially interested in the six Canadian teams (and, if Hamilton ever gets a franchise, we’ll be interested in them too). We’ll provide breaking news, instant and in-depth analysis, and everything else a Canadian hockey fan needs.

It should be a lot of fun.

I also want to have a community approach here. This is after all the internet, not a newspaper editorial section. If there’s a question that needs answering, ask it. Do you disagree with something that’s been written? Speak up; offer a different viewpoint – better still, offer evidence of your point of view.

The one rule I’m adamant about is respect. Please show respect for other commenters, as well as to the players we’ll discuss and the writers of this site. We’re all fans of the game, and with that comes passion, but there’s no need to toss around insults and fire ALL CAPS responses off at people. I want this to be a fun site to write and a fun site to participate in. I also want it to be a place where people aren’t afraid to say what’s on their mind.

This is going to be a blast, and we’re going to be covering a lot of ground, so check back often.
