Jesus Krejci, Bruins Lose Another to Concussion

David Krejci will miss at least a week after being diagnosed with a concussion.  Krejci was off to a great start with 10 points in 11 games, centering the Bruins’ top line between Milan Lucic and Nathan Horton.  Patrice Bergeron is the most likely candidate to skate on the first line, but the loss of Krejci leaves the Bruins rather thin down the middle.

MRI Scheduled for Willie Mitchell

The good news is, Willie Mitchell’s arm isn’t broken.  Still, the L.A. Kings are holding their breath in hope of nothing serious for their bruising defenseman.  The 33-year old will have an MRI on Monday.  Mitchell was injured during the first period of the Kings’ 4-1 win over Nashville on Saturday.

Warmup Confrontations Will Be Topic at GM Meetings

Puck Daddy looks at the idea of the NHL handing out suspensions for physical confrontations that happen during warmups, like what we saw between Sean Avery, Dan Carcillo, and Derek Boogaard last week.  Is it necessary, or is it just a case of a conservative NHL cracking down on fun for the fans?

Take That, Ken Holland; Shootouts Are Down

CBC’s Tim Wharnsby:

“… after a record 14.96 per cent or 184 games decided by a shootout last season, that number is substantially down this season. Only 16 of the 202 games (7.92 %) so far have required shootouts to decide the outcome.”
