Markov Not Out For Season, Not Yet
Rumours of Andrei Markov’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. TSN’s Bob MacKenzie offered some clarification on reports that the Montreal Canadiens defenceman was possibly out for the season, via Twitter. Even while trying to be optimistic on the Markov prognosis, it’s hard not to think that he’s going to hit the shelf for at least three months or more.
Tyler Dellow set the hockey world ablaze yesterday with his Colin Campbell email revelation story, now it seems like everyone with a keyboard and an opinion is calling for further investigation into Campbell’s apparent conflict of interest… though, nothing’s likely to come of it as the NHL appear to have his back on this one. Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail believes if any good comes from “the tempest around Campbell”, that it may a “one-size-fits all” approach to the discipline process. Kurtenblog take the crown for best headline in all of this: “Blogger Proves Bloggers Not Completely Useless”.
Ovechkin on a Sitcom? Maybe…
The lead character on a show I hadn’t heard of until these speculations surfaced reportedly sports Washington Capitals gear on the regular. The creator of “Raising Hope”, Greg Garcia, would like nothing more than for the Great 8 to appear on his show according to D.C. Sports Bog:
“The ultimate goal is to get Ovechkin to come play the wacky Russian neighbor for an episode, so my son can meet him… It’s all about getting stuff for my son. That’s really what it’s all about….He could be the worst actor in the world. It’s more important that my son could meet his hero.”
This is totally doable, Alex usually finishes up his NHL duties in mid-April – hopefully these two sides can hook up.

The New York Islanders share some characteristics with reformed losers like the Pittsburgh Penguins, Chicago Blackhawks, Washington Capitals, and L.A. Kings, but Chris Botta says they’re still running the organization like a mom-and-pop shop.
