
Commodore Requests a Trade
The Columbus Dispatch first reported the news that Mike Commodore has requested a trade from the Blue Jackets. Commodore has been spending more time out of the lineup than he has in it, and believes he is no longer in coach Scott Arniel’s plan. The big defenceman’s contract may be difficult to move with $3.5 million next season and $3.35 million in the final year left on it.
Bryan McCabe’s Game-Tying Goal Controversy
Tough break for the Florida Panthers last night when Bryan McCabe appeared to tie the game with Atlanta at three, but the officials signaled “no goal”. The play was not reviewed, and now the NHL is taking the blame for blowing this one. On Frozen Pond has more on the incident including video.
Ryan Getzlaf to Miss 4-to-6 Weeks
The Anaheim Ducks’ captain will be out until early February at the least after the damage he sustained from a puck to the face has finally been assessed. Getzlaf suffered the initial injury on December 28.
