Red Wings extend season with come from behind win

A bruised and beat up Pavel Datsyuk inspired his Red Wings teammates with strong play along the boards and on the defensive side of things, plus he chipped in three assists to help Detroit steal the game from San Jose. The Sharks blew a 3-1 lead as the Red Wings used a three-goal third period to extend their season for at least another game.

Jimmy Howard kept his team afloat most of the night as Detroit was outshot 42-22, but it was Antti Niemi who made what was arguably the save of the night:

Clowe gets Kronwall’d

It was a big night offensively for Niklas Kronwall, scoring the Red Wings first goal and assisting on the game tying marker. Kronwall set the tone for his team’s comeback with this beauty hit on Ryane Clowe in the second period. Unlike the big hit he administered on Dany Heatley, Kronwall didn’t leave his feet on this one:

Glendale council to vote on paying for another season Tuesday

The fate of the Phoenix Coyotes could be decided on Tuesday when Glendale City Council will vote on pledging $25 million to the NHL that would effectively buy the club more time in Arizona. The $25 million would offset team and arena losses, and give the franchise more time to try and settle its ownership situation.
